Kai Kingsley III
BORN IN MARCH is an exhibition of my new paintings on canvas and handmade paper. I like to call them my human paintings, because they either have form or express an individual emotion.
March is a month in which life seems to begin again; thus
I made the paintings bright and colorful. Some are monolithic people that are tall and narrow with wonderful designs, while others are created on paper using deliberate, and unpredictable bold strokes.
If the creation of my art were to have a label, I would have to say that I am a maker of experimental art. I find that when I look for something new to paint, the painting usually finds me. In the last forty years, art is more what I think rather than what I see.
Doing what other artists do is not my idea of being creative. Taking satisfaction in knowing that I try to kick a hole in the art world by coming up with art that is as new and fresh, I bring them into the world like my children for all to see and enjoy.
KAI KINGSLEY III
About the Artist
Kai Kingsley III is a collector of images. He is a man with a passion to paint. Sometimes he paints an abstract, and other times an impression of a dream. Internationally, Kingsley is recognized for paintings of all sorts. At sixty years old, I paint with my emotions in color.
From his beginning in New York City, Kingsley, Italian family name, Gilormo, experienced the last of the 1940 , and saw the start of modern art from 1950. He tried to do art as a child, but there was no time to explore this talent. Many years in school, studying, working kept him very busy. Perhaps, teaching school children for many years added a youthful quality to his paintings. Somehow, he knew he would be an artist. After serving in the U.S. Army, which ended in 1971, it was time to relax, travel and begin to paint all the amazing pictures in his mind.
Now, he lives in beautiful Thailand. His art is vibrant, exciting and pleasing to the eyes: changing images, bright color and a clean style. Kingsley is work has a child-like appeal like early cave paintings. Working in acrylic and oils by brush and airbrush, he does not like to use photographs, or the ideas of others.
He says, it is important to make original paintings for the world to know that you have discovered and created something special, new and innovative. I do not like to use photographs, or the ideas of other artists. Instead, he uses his own inspiration: dreams, feelings, emotions and daily experiences in incredible Thailand.
Most of Kingsley is paintings are happy. There is enough suffering in the world, so why should I paint sad things. It is through life and nature that inspiration comes to us. I just take a moment to look. If I like what I see, my mind can frame that picture. Kingsley continues to paint the most wonderful, colorful images for everyone to enjoy.
