Artist : Xavier Comas

 

Xavier Comas, a fine arts graduate 0f the University of Barcelona, is a Bangkok-based Spanish artist who has developed a career as designer and visual artist.

Inspired by the layered cultures of Asia, Xavier Comas, relies on chance to evolve projects, using the photographic lens not only to witness the elusiveness of the moment but also to be integral part of it.

Comas’ work has been published in Spain, Italy, France, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, USA, Japan and exhibited in The Netherlands, Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand. The Singapore Art Museum exhibited his work as installation in TransportAsian 2009 and it has recently acquired his ‘Jiutamai’ series as Museum collection. His project ‘Pasajero’ has been published by prominent magazines such as the Spanish La Vanguardia Sunday’s Newspaper edition, the Japanese art Magazine ‘Quotation’ or Courrier International. He is contributor for the international journal Asia Literary Review.

His acclaimed project ‘Tokyo up, down’ has been featured by the prestigious online magazine Lens Culture, NZZ of Switzerland and GUP Magazine among others and recently exhibited at Noorderlicht Photofestival 2011. ‘The House of the Raja’, his last work from Thailand’s deep south was exhibited by H gallery in Bangkok and it is part of his current first book project.
